You love your child. You also can’t remember the last evening that didn’t end in shouting, tears or a slammed door. You say something, they push back, you push harder, and somewhere in it you both lose the thread.

Sometimes the hardest part isn’t the behaviour. It’s feeling that you can’t reach each other any more.

Making 2gether gives the two of you ninety minutes a week side by side, making something with paint, clay or paper. There is no need to talk, and no drawing skill needed. Reena watches how you connect, and afterwards helps you read your child and repair after a clash.

Is this a fit?

This may be a good fit if…

Most evenings seem to end in an argument.

You feel you can’t reach your child, or they shut you out.

Your child says more with their hands than with words.

You are drained, and not sure how much you have left to give.

Probably not the right fit if…

  • Your child’s own feelings are the main problem, more than the relationship: meltdowns, giving up, anger. Play 2gether, one-to-one with Carrine.
  • Your child is 6 to 12 and needs a space of their own with other children, and you are happy to wait outside. The Art Therapy Group.
  • There is a crisis at home right now, or a worry about someone’s safety. Please speak to your doctor first, or in an emergency go to the nearest hospital emergency department.

No art skill is needed, for either of you. It is not an art class.

How it works

What a session looks like

The First Session

You meet Reena on your own first, to talk about what is going on and what you hope for. Then your child joins and you make something together. Afterwards you get a written recommendation.

Making together

About an hour side by side: your own pieces first, then something shared, then a look at the work together and a short closing ritual.

Time for you

About 25 minutes with Reena at the end: what you noticed, what it may say about your child, and one thing to try at home.

Sessions just for you

Every package includes time for the parent alone, to reflect on the artwork and the patterns, or to make something of your own.

For children under six, the making part is shorter, 45 to 60 minutes. Please bring a second adult, such as a helper or the other parent, to be with your child while you talk with Reena.

The packages

Four sessions or eight

Reconnect, four sessions

The First Session, two sessions together and one for you alone, with a short written summary at the end.

Deepen, eight sessions

The First Session, five sessions together and two for you alone, a written closing summary and a portfolio of the artwork.

Nothing wasted

If you book a package within 14 days of the First Session, it counts as the first session of the package.

Your pace

If the stress at home is mostly your own, you can swap sessions together for sessions just for you. Reena’s written recommendation says which package she suggests, and why.

The artwork stays safely at 2Bloom until your last session, then goes home with you.

Your therapist

Reena Clare, Art Psychotherapist

Reena holds an MA in Art Psychotherapy from the University of Hertfordshire and is certified in CATT (Children’s Accelerated Trauma Treatment). She has worked with children through the NHS and Kids Company in the UK, and she leads our Art Therapy Group.

Art gives a child a way to say what they can’t yet put into words, and it gives a parent something to look at together instead of each other. Reena’s job is to help you read what you are both making.

Questions parents ask

Before you get in touch

Do we need to be good at art?

No, neither of you. Nobody is judging the artwork. What matters is what happens between you while you make it.

Why is the parent in the session?

Because the clashes happen between the two of you, so the two of you are the ones who can change them. Making something side by side lets Reena see how you connect, and gives you something to share that isn’t an argument.

What if the problem is mostly me?

That is allowed. Every package has time for you alone, and if the stress is mostly your own you can swap sessions together for sessions just for you. You don’t need to call it burnout for it to count.

My child is three. Is that too young?

No. Making 2gether is for children aged 3 to 12. For under-sixes the making part is shorter, and a second adult looks after your child while you talk with Reena.

How is this different from the Art Therapy Group?

The Art Therapy Group is for children aged 6 to 12 on their own, in a closed group of six, and parents wait outside. Making 2gether is for you and your child together, one family at a time.

How much does it cost?

We tell you the fee for the First Session and for each package in writing before you book anything. If you book a package within 14 days of the First Session, the First Session counts as its first session. Messaging us costs nothing.
