Respect starts at home: Raising boys and girls who respect others and expect respect
A free talk for parents of boys and girls aged 3–12, with a short part for parents of teens, at 2Bloom in Solaris Mont Kiara, Kuala Lumpur.
Respect isn’t a lesson we give once. Children learn it every day: in how we handle their anger, whether their “no” is heard, and what they hear us say about boys and girls.
- Sat 14 Nov, 10.00 – 11.15 am
- Free · 25 seats
- Kids’ corner
Your seat is confirmed when we reply. Bringing children? Tell us their ages.

In 45 minutes, Jade covers
Many parents have asked us how to raise children who treat others well, and expect to be treated well themselves. The answer starts much earlier than most of us think, at home, while our children are small.
Feelings come first
Helping sons and daughters name and ride out anger, jealousy and disappointment.
Hearing no
Why accepting a limit is a skill children practise, and how to coach it.
Saying no
Body autonomy, the right words, and backing up your child’s “stop”.
What we say without meaning to
The everyday phrases worth retiring.
Screens
What boys are being shown online, often without searching for it, and how to ask about it without shutting the conversation down.
Speaking up
Helping children say “not cool” when a friend puts someone down.
Friendship and love
Early warning signs, and how to talk about them, including with teens.
We’re the model
Disagreeing and making up in front of our children.
You’ll leave with one small thing to try each week. Then 20 minutes of questions with Jade and Carrine Loh, Clinical Psychologist.
